Cincinnati-based Empower MediaMarketing has landed another account win, showing that the "Midwestern work ethic" does pay off.

WonderGroup has recently hired Empower to manage the online media planning and buying for Evenflo, a WonderGroup client.

This comes hot on the heels of a banner year in 2006, in which Empower landed accounts with companies such as Humana, Escort, Drees, Crocs, Sylvan and Chiquita, to name a few. With another account under its belt, Empower has gone beyond what many would expect from a marketing firm from Cincinnati, Ohio.

"Cincinnati has many of the larger city offerings like the arts, pro sports teams, etc and is a very easy city to live in," said Brian McHale, president, Empower MediaMarketing. "I think our location also emphasizes the point that agencies don't have to be in New York, LA or Chicago to be successful and attract quality people and clients. We have many clients who have told us that the way we approach their business is with a 'Midwestern work ethic' and that it is different from what they have received from agencies located in larger cities."

Empower prides itself on helping clients understand their products and the competition. "Our ability to approach our clients' challenges from a broader marketing perspective has helped us succeed," McHale said. "As the world of marketing and media continues to fragment, it is very important that a company like Empower can understand how all of the pieces can work together."

With all the accounts the company oversees, Empower is working on taking these clients in new directions such as using the Internet as a marketing medium. "That really has been the fastest growing area in our company in 2006," he said. "It has been a key piece why a number of these prospects have decided to partner with us."
