Hub Takes On MacGregor Golf

There are a couple of kinds of dream accounts every shop likes to have. A ski resort. A winery. Now, San Francisco shop Hub Strategy and Communication (Hub), San Francisco, has landed an account in a dream category: golf.

The shop has become agency of record for MacGregor Golf, a marketer trying to be a maverick in the tradition-bound sport. MacGregor Golf vp-marketing Rob Johnson said Hub will be involved in all facets of MacGregor's marketing including print, television, collateral, online advertising, strategy development and branding.

In a statement, Mr. Johnson said the way to stand apart is to "take a slightly different tact. One that is human, is different, is real and is still rooted in performance."

MacGregor Golf recently acquired the Greg Norman Collection apparel business from the adidas Group. Mr. Norman, a former professional golfer is expected to be involved in the golf line's sales and marketing.

Other Hub Strategy clients include Slingbox, Sega, Lombardi Sports, and Clear Channel.
