Cows will be herd from next in the Big Apple

Manhattan is following in the footsteps of Chicago's "Cows on Parade," a herd of 300 life-size fiberglass cows decorated by artists and sponsored by local businesses that were loosed on downtown streets from June 15 through Oct. 31. Next year, the bovine experience hits New York, with 500 to 1,000 cows slated to appear from June 15 through Sept. 3. MarComm Partners will handle sponsorships. The effort is backed by the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Swiss Institute (public art cows were first introduced in Zurich last year).

Greyhound Bus Lines this month launches a tie-in with the Southeastern Conference of 12 universities as part of the SEC's role as title sponsor of the SEC Youth Clinic program. Hundreds of inner-city youths will be offered free participation in a series of sports clinics. The effort includes donations to Boys & Girls Clubs of America. PGC, Dallas, handles advertising for the linkup.

Details magazine, Pearl Spirits' Pearl vodka, grooming goods supplier Geo. F. Trumper and Manhattan's Sephora store are joining forces for a men's grooming night Nov. 16. The event will provide Details readers and other guests invited via direct mail with free personal shaves, manicures, massages and martinis in the latest of the magazine's series of events for upscale readers.
