Wal-Mart Stores will assume title sponsorship of what Operation Bass calls the world's largest bass fishing competition, the 119-event Red Man Tournament Trail. The sponsorship begins in 2001; Wal-Mart continues as the major sponsor of Operation Bass' Wal-Mart FLW Tour and the EverStart Series, named for its top-selling battery brand. Separately, tackle systems marketer Plano Molding Co. has joined as a sponsor of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour.
Tommy Hilfiger USA this summer sponsors its second annual series of footraces for the entire family, with 13 races in 10 states. About 20,000 runners are expected this year, with proceeds going to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Hilfiger will provide on-site presence and product marketing.
