Wordstretch, St. Paul, Minn., maker of rubber-band "bracelets" imprinted with promotional messages, inked a deal to become the official licensed rubber-band accessory of the National Basketball Association. At high-profile games, Wordstretch drops bunches of rubber bands attached to parachutes, including several signed by NBA players. The company said it has sold 12 million rubber bands to marketers since 1998; other clients have included Giorgio Armani, Sara Lee Corp.'s Wonderbra and Napster.
Teen this week underwrites "Girls Rule!" a teen fashion show that's part of Manhattan's Fashion Week. Teen sensation Pink, featured on the magazine's March cover, will participate; in-magazine sponsors include Paul Mitchell Systems for haircare, Vans for shoes, and apparel marketers Dollhouse, Rusty and Squeeze.
