Monthly drops in U.S. ad spending continued in August, but at least the slowdown slowed down: The percentage drop was the same as July, a possible sign the free-fall was ending. While Sept. 11 will affect the next monthly totals, year-over-year comparisons will be easier in the fourth quarter.
