SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AdAge.com) -- The incoming chairman of the American Association of Advertising Agencies, Tony Hopp, called on Management Conference attendees to take a more positive view of their industry and its prospects.

Mr. Hopp, who is also chairman-CEO of Campbell-Ewald, told the audience at the Phoenician Resort here that he was struck by the "overwhelming positive" news that comes out of other industries, such as computer and consumer electronics, but was dismayed by his own industry's "whining" and "negativity" about the current changes and challenges it faces.
