"We don't consider this the digital age -- that 's too easy. This is the age of connection." So proclaims digital-creative agency Big Spaceship on its website. Here's an agency that has applied the importance of connection to its building facilities, culture and work. Located in Brooklyn, N.Y., the 15,000-square-foot office is getting another 6,000 square feet, two more conference rooms, a gallery space with bleachers and video walls, and team breakout rooms. The new rooms are a little different; in the past, the shop's space was 90% open. While still keeping the team rows, the new breakouts will provide "inspirational spaces" for individual disciplines and clients.
Almost every survey respondent mentioned the people they work with as the best thing about this agency. The staff enjoys revenue sharing for revenue-generating intellectual property , as well as outings to local bars and sporting events. The agency maintains a philosophy that "ideas come from everyone and everywhere" -- which is why the word "creative" was removed from all titles. Everyone contributes to the creative process, even the agency's five dogs and newly adopted snake.
