Target stores uses inserts to promote weekly specials, but the discounter shows off its true colors in the detail it pays to branding in every aspect of its communications. This eight-page newspaper insert pushing products and brands opens with a yellow section, for example, in which a woman leans out a window in a wall made of Cheerios boxes. Three fair-haired toddlers in vests made of yellow M&M's packets are pictured with sunflowers. In all, Target stays on target while changing colors and never jeopardizing its trademark red logo.
