The Street Review: Ben Stewart

Published on .

Levi's "Stampede" Buffalo and blue jeans: there's something there. This ad reminds us that Levi's is a Western original, as if the dust of the stampede were part of the denim's manufacture. But other than this (however powerful) equation, we are given little but another hipster couple sporting a product that the narrative tells us is the domesticated double of the terrifying herd. As if we're all buffalo brethren now that we wear Levi's, even in the city. Indeed, what a rush as those beasts rumble past us down that (strangely abandoned) highway. Who walks on a highway? 1 star

Mr. Stewart is an NYU writing instructor and a former bicycle messenger.
