COVER STORY: And baby makes . . .queen of the covers

Starring in a new movie about a single mother and the real-life impending arrival of another baby put Madonna on newsstands in April, rounding up 8 points and the top spot for Cover Story.

Second place belonged to Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise, accumulating 6.5 points with four cover appearances. Newly minted Oscar winner Hilary Swank collected 6 points on the strength of six covers

Fourth place was tie between Sandra Bullock and Kathie Lee Gifford, both with 5.5 points, with the No. 6 spot also a tie, pitting Cameron Diaz and Julia Roberts against each other with 5 points apiece.

"X-Files" star David Duchovny won 4.5 points and eighth place, while Katie Couric and Nicole Kidman finished together in ninth place with 4 points each.
