August may have been the season of political conventions, but a pair of Hollywood lovebirds ruled the roost at newsstands. The July 29 wedding of Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt helped the pair win the votes of magazine editors, with the bride earning 7.5 points and Cover Story's top prize thanks to seven cover appearances. The groom was close behind, taking second place with 6.5 points and five covers. The couple could be seen on The National Enquirer, People, The Star and Us Weekly.

British beauty Elizabeth Hurley captured 6 points and the No. 3 spot, with appearances on In Style and Talk. Perennial cover girl Julia Roberts came in fourth, with 5.5 points, and Latina diva Jennifer Lopez was fifth, collecting 5 points. The race for No. 6 was a six-way tie, with politicos Joseph Lieberman and George W. Bush sharing the honor with the likes of the cast of "Survivor" and Madonna.
