Started in 2011 by Roger Camp and Jamie King, Camp & King counts among its clients Del Taco, Dish Network's Sling and Google.

"If you think about an agency as a bunch of people who solve problems on behalf of clients, and you try to maintain a diverse workforce, you're going to solve problems differently," said Mr. King. "The proof is in the pudding."

The proof is in the chocolate, too: After the agency's "Wonderfully Complicated" campaign for Hershey's Scharffen Berger Chocolate, retail sales increased 40%.

The 45-person San Francisco-based agency saw a 20% growth spurt between 2013 and 2014.
