$10 million

Purse for Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins in his middleweight championship win over Oscar de la Hoya in September. A $30 million purse helped de la Hoya recover from his knockout loss.

$5.3 million

Ad revenue for boxing in 2003 vs. $2 billion for the National Football League, according to Street & Smith's Sports Business Journal.

The number of years, since 1996, that U.S. had gone without winning Olympic gold for boxing. Andre Ward ended the drought last summer in Athens by winning in light heavyweight division. The 20-year-old Ward has since signed a management pact with rap and boxing entrepreneur James Prince.
