Carnival Corp. said it will air its first Super Bowl commercial in 2015, offering viewers a chance to win a yearly cruise for life.
The cruise company has released four potential spots on its web site -- one is above and three are below -- and is asking consumers to vote for their favorite. The winning 60-second spot will appear in the game, airing on NBC on Feb. 1. For voting, consumers will be entered into the sweepstakes for a chance to win the grand prize.
Carnival is working with BBDO, Atlanta, and Academy Award-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister on the spots.
The Super Bowl commercial will anchor Carnival's multi-brand marketing initiative, which for the first time incorporates all nine of its global brands for a TV, digital and social campaign, to attract more people to cruise vacations. The company's brands include Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Costa Cruises, Cunard and Seabourn.
"Our goal is to convince those who have never cruised to give us a chance to show them why over 10 million people a year sail on one of our nine brands and why so many of our guests cannot wait to sail with us again," Arnold Donald, CEO, Carnival Corporation, said in a statement.
The four spots are "Getaway," emphasizing the chance to get away from all the stresses of life; "Cruise Virgin," where people recollect their first cruises; "Message in a Bottle," which features special moments of cruising; and "Mystery Spot," which contains a surprise that will remind people just how special the sea can be.
