Lexus was one of the first Super Bowl XLIX advertisers to release its commercial ahead of time, and now it's bought one of the last available slots in the game, for an ad showing a remote-controlled toy Lexus performing trick driving.
The ad is based on recent videos of remote-controlled Lexus vehicles performing tricks. "The Lexus social community was really taken with these drift videos, and had an outpouring of comments & engagement," a Lexus spokeswoman said in an email. "600,000 organic views within days of posting the first one. Late last week Lexus & T1 decided to make a spot for that community to air pre-game. Then, just a few days ago NBC had an opening, and everyone jumped at the opportunity."
The ad is from agency Team One. Walton Isaacson handled the other Lexus ad in the game.
