Chelsea Pictures had a diverse output of work this year. The long form arena proved especially fertile—Emmy-awarded director of This American Life, Chris Wilcha, turned his documentary lens to short films capturing the lives of small business owners for VISA; Christopher Quinn shot real life do-gooders in CVS's "Portraits of Caring", while Neil Tardio directed some comedically daring moves for Crispin and VW's TDI campaign . Chelsea partnered with Strawberry Frog to produce a campaign for snack brand True North, which asked viewers to submit stories about finding their "True North." The winning story was featured in a Helen Hunt-directed spot that debuted during the Academy Awards. It profiled Lisa Nigro, a former cop who now runs the Chicago restaurant the Inspiration Café, which serves meals to the homeless. Spots-wise, Nicholas Barker was behind a new Dyson spot, while Chelsea's addition of veteran comic storyteller Rick LeMoine brought comedic heft to its reel, via spots for Carnival Cruise Lines and U.S. Bank. In the longform world, Pineapple Express David Gordon Green shot a number of episodes for HBO's Eastbound and Down.
