The CW enters the 2016-2017 TV season with few changes to its schedule, adding just four shows -- one of them familiar to viewers from a freshman run on someone else's air.

The network's most high-profile new series is "Supergirl," which joins the lineup from CBS, where it concluded its first season last month. It will again run at 8 p.m. on Mondays, the same timeslot it occupied on CBS.

Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, told reporters on a press call Thursday morning that he expects the series to take its place among top three shows on the network. While Mr. Pedowitz is not expecting to maintain the same ratings "Supergirl" pulled on CBS -- the season finale averaged 6.2 million viewers and 1.2 rating in the 18-to-49 demo -- he does expect it to bring some new viewers to The CW after watching on CBS.

The CW, which will celebrate its 10-year anniversary in the fall, has managed to shift its formerly primarily female audience to an even gender split, according to Mr. Pedowitz, who called that the most balanced audience of any broadcaster.

"Vampire Diaries" spin-off "The Originals" will be held back for mid-season, along with "Reign."

Other new series include the romantic comedy "No Tomorrow"; "Frequency," a drama, based on the 2000 movie of the same name, about a father and daughter who connect through an old ham radio; and "Riverdale," a drama based on Archie comics.

The network also announced the digital initiative CW Good, which highlights the causes important to the channel's stars and fans. It will bow in August and include its own series, "My Last Days," a docu-series "about how to truly live, as told by those who are dying," the CW said in a statement.
