American Airlines sends 7,200 seats packing

Published on .

American Airlines is removing 7,200 seats from its 700-plus jets, and some of them end up on the tarmac in one of three humorous commercials touting the carrier's "More Room Throughout Coach" effort. The airline said it will spend about $70 million to remove the seats and create more leg room for coach passengers. Those chairs that remain will be replaced with new seats. Temerlin McClain, Irving, Texas, created the spots, as well as page newspaper ads that will run in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
