The Big Push: Cadillac in luxury end of the car pool

Published on .

The location is the Utah Salt Flats though the inspiration is Olympic swimming in a spot that broke last week for General Motors Corp.'s Cadillac. Five DeVilles whose license plates bear the names of famous Olympic swimmers, including Johnny Weissmuller, compete in a mock swimming race. The commercial refers viewers to cadillac.com for an online contest to win a 2001 DeVille DTS (AA, Aug. 28). D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, Troy, Mich., created the spot, and Nydrle, West Hollywood, Calif., handled production. Copywriter: Robert Manley. Art director: Paul Weideman.
