LIBERTY LIT:

Published on .

The Statue of Liberty's torch is the real thing in a Zippo lighter spot running in the U.S., Europe, Russia and the Asia-Pacific. In the commercial that Egan/St. James, Pittsburgh, created for Zippo Manufacturing, a night watchman climbs winding stairs to the torch and uses his Zippo to relight it. The spot breaks this month in Estonia. Will the realistic effects make some outside the U.S. think Lady Liberty's torch blazes for real? Copywriter: Bill Garrison. Art director: Jay Giesen.
