According to Chronicle Books, theatrical manager and producer Steven Suskin, author of A Must See!: Brilliant Broadway Artwork, searched through rare archives to compile 50 years' worth of theatrical posters, many of which haven't been seen since the shows in question closed. Artists represented in the 175 color images in this engrossing $22.95 paperback include Al Hirschfeld, Norman Rockwell, Peter Arno, Alberto Vargas, William Steig, Edward Gorey, Ludwig Bemelmans, Hilary Knight, James Thurber and Tom Morrow. Broadway art trivia: This 1964 Funny Girl poster is designed to reflect the song "I Did it On Roller Skates," which was cut from the show.
