Last month, a crowd of filmmakers, fashionistas, musicians and other trendsetting types gathered in New York's meatpacking district at a DKNY Jeans-sponsored fete to celebrate Palm Pictures' release of the newest additions to its Directors Label series, which showcase some of the best work of Anton Corbijn, Jonathan Glazer, Mark Romanek and Stephane Sednaoui. "I wanted to change the paradigm slightly and present the directors themselves as the artists," says producer Richard Brown of his goal for the series. Directors at the launch party included Michel Gondry, who was featured in the first round of the series, as well as Corbijn, Sednaoui and Romanek, the latter noting that "only so many minutes of material fits onto a single disc"-which may explain why he took two years to compile his volume. "I selected the work I was least embarrassed by, and that was that," Romanek adds. "It's not fun for me to watch my work, although there are a few videos I'm fairly proud of." Brown says next up in the series are Mike Mills and Hammer & Tongs.
