The Creativity Production Index, the average number of spots produced by a sample of agency offices, rallied slightly at the close of 2004, posting increases in both November and December. While both months were down compared to a year ago, December's mark clawed above 10.0 for the first time since September. At year's end, the 2004 CPI finished at 12.3, down two points from 2003's mark of 14.4. On the upside, the Entertainment Industry Development Corporation-which had not released year end numbers at press time-reports that commercials shooting days in Los Angeles were outpacing 2003's total by 21 percent through October.
