Production Index

Published on .

The Creativity Production Index-the average number of spots produced by a sample of agency offices-rose slightly in October, topping September's CPI by a mere tenth of a point. Commercials production days in Los Angeles likewise perked up in October, after falling sharply in September, according to numbers released by the Entertainment Industry Development Corporation (EIDC). The EIDC recorded 458 location shooting days for commercials in October, a 4 percent gain compared to a year ago, and a 26 percent increase compared to September's tally. L.A. shooting days have now posted year-to-year gains in three of the last four months, although the 2003 total still lags behind last year's pace by 3.6 percent. The 2003 production index, on the other hand, is tracking ahead of last year's number by two index points.
