If you haven't already heard of "Once," a wonderful little indie film that came out earlier this year, you're sure to hear about it soon -- not only because the DVD will be released on Dec. 18,
but because it's destined to end up on plenty of critics' year-end best-of lists. It's a sweet, gritty almost-love story about a busker (Glen Hansard) and a talented young pianist (Markéta Irglová) who meet in the streets of Dublin and end up making beautiful music together -- literally.
Sounds sappy, but miraculously it's not. With its irresistible folk-rock soundtrack, "Once" is a musical for people who hate musicals. And, hey, I'm giving away a copy to one randomly selected reader.
Just put "Once" in the subject line of an e-mail to me
on or before midnight (end of day) on Dec. 31. Speaking of freebies, for a list of the 10 winners of my Nov. 19 column giveaways, send me an e-mail with "winners" in the subject line.
