Media Guy's Pop Pick: Feist's '1, 2, 3, 4'

Now it's time for something a little different: a bit of pure pop perfection by director Patrick Daughters. His latest music video for culty Canadian singer-songwriter Feist (née Leslie Feist) is a complete delight. It's for "1, 2, 3, 4," the break-out single from "The Reminder" -- which happens to be one of my favorite records of the year so far (and a surprise Billboard Top 20 hit).

The video features Feist and a cast of dozens executing a charmingly goofy amalgam of filmic dance moves, from Bob Fosse to Busby Berkeley to Country line dancing. (View it by clicking on the "Videos" tab at listentofeist.com; multiple grainy copies are also on YouTube.) I'd start the clock on when this video's irresistibly giddy style will get co-opted for a TV commercial -- but of course "1, 2, 3, 4" itself co-opts commercial memes, most notably those of the Gap's dance-happy spots. And Daughters, who is represented by The Directors Bureau, is also a commercial director.
