Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Flight of the Conchords
This week, an unlikely study in musical contrasts from way down under and thereabouts: the first (eponymous) album by Flight of the Conchords, the New Zealand folk-pop comedy duo whose HBO show was one of my favorite things on TV last year (we have to wait until 2009 for the second season) and "Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!!," the latest triumph from Australian icon Nick Cave (one of the punk-rock gods of my youth) and his band, The Bad Seeds. Really, I think Cave and the Conchords should tour together! (Cave is mordantly funny, but I find that not everyone gets the humor.) As always with Pop Pick, I'm sharing the wealth: I'm randomly giving away one copy each of the new Flight of the Conchords and Nick Cave CDs. To be eligible, send me an e-mail with "Conchords" or "Cave" in the subject line on or before June 5.
