Katie Couric's marketing team for her new daytime talk show, "Katie," just posted the following clip on her official YouTube channel. It's the first promo for her hour-long syndicated show, which premieres Sept. 10 and will be broadcast live from New York in front of a studio audience. Distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television, "Katie" is executive produced by Couric and Jeff Zucker. The promo shows nothing talk-show related, but instead aims to remind you that Katie is America's sweetheart and a toothy bundle of joy. Here's the basic plot of the clip:

Katie smiles while...
Well, you get the idea. I should note that there's a brief moment of dramatic tension about 12 seconds into the promo as Katie grabs a book off a bookshelf in a bookstore. She's not smiling. What's wrong? What's going on in Katie's head? Is she upset about the book? The bookstore she's in? The economy? The Eurozone crisis? For the love of God, why isn't Katie smiling?!
But then she smiles a bunch more through the rest of the promo, so it has a happy ending. Phew.
