Brands come and go from the Viral Video Chart, but one seems to remain all but constant: Samsung. This week marks Samsung's 38th appearance and 25th week on the Chart this year.
Samsung leads all other brands when it comes to appearances on the Chart, often even landing multiple videos in the Top 10 at once. Google has actually made the Chart more frequently, appearing on 28 separate Charts this year, but has only made 34 appearances in sum.
This week, Samsung's Galaxy Note II campaign is No.1 for a second time, garnering 15 million views last week and 24 million views in all. Its video, "LeBron's Day," shows how LeBron James uses the Galaxy II Note at breakfast with his son, at the barbershop and elsewhere throughout his day.
In the past, Samsung has teamed up with celebrities like David Beckham and James Franco. But even without the star power, it seems as if any ad the company produces is viral gold. It now has created 13 distinct campaigns that have appeared on the Viral Chart this year.
But all those viral hits aren't coming out of one shop. The campaigns were created by eight different agencies, according to Visible Measures, including 72andSunny LA, 72andSunny Amsterdam, Mullen, The Viral Factory, BETC London, Cheil Worldwide, Cheil USA, and IDEO. It just goes to show that Samsung has a deep agency bench and a strong overarching strategy.
