Samsung's "The Next Best Thing" campaign launched right before Thanksgiving and now has 5.5 million total views on 30 different copies, parodies and other derivatives. We're on record loving the campaign, but curious to know if it sways anyone who wants an iPhone to reconsider.
Macy's came in at No. 2 last week for its Black Friday spot but it was hardly playing fair. You've probably seen the 30-second TV spot of men screeching like young teenage girls at Justin Bieber by now. Launched in mid-November, the ad picked up steam as Black Friday promotions geared up, and like anything the mop-top pop star does, it performed pretty well online.
Target 's Black Friday ads placed third on the chart with 1.8 million views. Oddly, these are mostly views on copies and derivatives from last year's campaign. All the original clips uploaded by the retailer have been taken down. Target launched a new campaign this year, starring the same committed Target shopper, but this year's ad didn't make it onto the chart, collecting under 600,000 views.
The British cell phone retailer Phones4U debuts on the chart at eighth place with 900,000+ views. Launched at the beginning of October, the spooky campaign has three creatives, with ghosts and zombies haunting those who didn't take advantage of Phones4U's deals. The campaign is currently running in the U.K., although there have been complaints that the spots are too scary to be aired on television.
