Cars: Dream wheeling

By Published on .

Car and truck buyers will have a slew of new nameplates to consider.

Among the new 2003-model sports cars: Nissan North America's 350Z and BMW's Z4 roadster. Cadillac's XLR shows up in spring 2003 as a 2004 model. Nissan's Infiniti Division introduces the G35 sports coupe. Volkswagen of America adds the first new Beetle convertible. The newest generations of Mercedes-Benz's E-Class sedan and Honda's Accord both appear in September.

Newcomers to the SUV category include: Porsche's Cayenne and Volvo's XC90 (early 2003 and fall, respectively), and Nissan's Murano. Arriving in late 2002 will be Mitsubishi's Outlander, the Lexus GX470 and Honda's Element.

Chevrolet's retro-looking SSR pickup is due early next year.
