Avedon's Final Flourish

In a small tribute to Richard Avedon, who died last month at 81, we're saluting his last print campaign, for jeweler Harry Winston and Point One Percent, a New York ad agency that specializes in the luxury market. The work features models selected by Avedon, including Anjelica Houston, Julie Delpy, Mena Suvari and supermodel Malgosia. "Every model was chosen to mirror the beauty and eclectic elegance of Harry Winston's diverse clientele," says Point One president Alexander Duckworth. "Richard Avedon's body of work reflects the essence of Harry Winston-the glamour, sophistication and fashion elegance that is still very much a part of New York." Adds Winston chief marketing officer Susy Korb, "The people are not just beautiful-they convey a certain confidence in their own skin." As well they might be expected to in this very dear context. "There's nothing demure about wearing a 72-carat diamond ring," notes freelance creative director Sally Hogshead. "The campaign speaks to the utterly honest emotions surrounding a $6 million purchase."
