Adidas scores on two counts in this dazzling "Unstoppable" spot, actually coming up with something interesting in the way of a basketball dunk-probably the most overused sports visual of all time-while simultaneously invoking the war in Iraq in an ambiguous fashion. Director Brian Beletic says, "The original brief was, 'Let's be careful not to be Operation Iraqi Freedom," but at the same time he adds, "I'm a pacifist, but I'm very attracted to just cool shit-and helicopters and stuff fall into that category." Indeed, it can be argued that the military tech on display, though the troops are dressed in Stars Wars white, clearly brings to mind U.S. firepower-which can't stop Houston Rockets superendorser Tracy McGrady from sailing to the hoop. Draw your own conclusions. At any rate, this is a well-deserved trophy magnet.
