Writer/director Jim Jenkins is at it again for the Discovery Channel, with three spots, themed "Know more than you should," which appear to boast unusually large budgets for this sort of cable outing. An Orwellian tour de force features a "normal" man who, thanks to the time machine he built, finds himself in a world where everyone else has antlers. In another spot, a clairvoyant woman looking out an office window sees someone drop an umbrella in the street, and she mysteriously says to her colleague, "Great, now there'll be cats everywhere." Then a bizarre chain of events unfolds in which a milk truck crashes, making a dairy river. A third spot stars a very sensitive cowboy who telepathically communicates with a very sensitive cow. "My favorite of the three is 'Antlers,' " says Jenkins. "I love its cinematic scope, and the idea that one man mistakenly ruins the world because of something he learns on the channel. It's a brave network that lets you shoot something like that. The casting director actually retired after this shoot. More surprisingly, the poor guy who had to make all the prosthetic antlers didn't."
