The :90 trailer for the globe-trotting 2004 Resfest Digital Film Festival is, as you might expect, a digital treat. Produced by directing collective Motion Theory in a collaboration with illustration team KozynDan, it's one of those slow, seamless pans with the camera happening upon endless weird vignettes. While there's nothing new about that, the vignettes feature a range of gravity-defying feats, alien creatures and bizarre human behavior to keep things interesting. Using a motion-control rig, Motion Theory shot for two days at locations in Los Angeles, including Hama Sushi in Venice Beach, downtown L.A., a suburban house and a used-car dealership. The panoramic result incorporates illustration, live action, 3-D design and animation.
