Love is in the air ... or is that smoke? Recognizing that the two don't mix, the Washington State Department of Health targets young lovebirds in its 2006 smoking prevention campaign. Titled "Gross," the campaign includes a pair of spots from agency Sedgwick Rd. that illustrates the mood-killing effects of smoking. The whimsical doll animation strikes a perfectly perverse balance between cute and morbid, with each spot depicting a boy and a girl on the verge of a romantic kiss, only to have the moment ruined by one partner putting something just as gross as a cigarette-like a hairball or a dead animal-in his or her mouth.
