Jay Martin, 28, is a cartoonist/illustrator and storyboard artist who's making a move on directing via en elaborate spec reel. Besides a Bud campaign that makes fun of immigrants, he's got standout comedy dialogue spots for Hallmark and Match.com. The former features three blue-collar brothers who are sending their mother a Mother's Day card. As they bicker about what to write, every other word out of their mouths is "fuck." "I was trying to capture the rhythm of that kind of construction site banter, and see how many times I could slip the f-word into a 30-second conversation," says Martin. His Match.com spot features a sedate grandma type who tells her husband, "I have a confession to make. I've been seeing Bob, the plumber." This news is taken rather well. Then she adds, "I never thought it was possible for a woman to ever love two men at the same time - until he introduced me to Phil, his helper."
