Benetton recruits Swede as ad head

By Published on .

[Panzano, Italy] Benetton has chosen Joel Berg, a Swedish art director, as the new creative director responsible for United Colors of Benetton advertising and for Fabrica, the company's combination ad agency and ad school. His predecessor, Oliviero Toscani, left Benetton in 2000 after 18 years of controversial international print ads. Mr. Berg was creative director of Italian fashion magazine Republica delle Donne in Milan. Before that he was an art director at Harper's Bazaar in New York. Separately, editor Kurt Andersen will join Benetton's Colors magazine as editorial director and chairman.
