China retailer bags spokesmen

By Published on .

[Guangzhou, China] In an attempt to stand out from other retail advertising focused on price, products and store locations, China's ParkNshop is using animation to turn its shopping bags into brand spokesmen in a humorous TV campaign created by Omnicom Group's DDB Worldwide. Media was handled by Omnicom's OMD, Hong Kong. The animated bags even demonstrate the chain's low costs, literally, by checking the price of products before allowing them into their bag. The campaign will also run in print media and in-store point-of-sale materials. ParkNshop opened its first superstore in 2000, followed a year later by a megastore in Guangzhou, including a supermarket and a discount store selling home appliances, clothes, furniture and toys. The chain is owned by Hong Kong-based conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa.
