Coke hears pitches for China media

[Shanghai] Coca-Cola Co. heard pitches last week for its estimated $30 million-plus media business in mainland China, including "integrated communication planning, media execution, and strategic analysis/media tracking capability for the company's entire portfolio of beverages within China," according to a Coke spokeswoman in Shanghai. The review includes the incumbent, Publicis Groupe's ZenithOptimedia, and three other Coke agencies: Publicis' StarcomMediaVest Group, Interpublic Group of Cos.' Universal McCann, and Aegis Group's Carat. The China creative business, split between Interpublic's McCann-Erickson Worldwide for Coke Classic and WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather for Sprite and Fanta, is not being reviewed.

Separately, Coke consolidated Coke Classic creative in Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines with Australian incumbent Singleton Ogilvy & Mather, Sydney. The WPP agency pitched against McCann, Sydney, and local Sydney shop Brown Melhuish Fishlock. AdAge.com QwikFIND aap09x
