[New Delhi, India] LG Electronics moved its $22 million media business in India to Group M Media Worldwide, the latest move in WPP Group's effort to win the Korean consumer electronics marketer's business worldwide and handle it through dedicated Team LG units. Group M will set up a dedicated WPP Team LG unit in India, where WPP's Ogilvy & Mather
Worldwide won LG's creative account in a pitch last year. On the media side, WPP pitched against the incumbent, Interpublic Group of Cos.' Initiative Media, and Interpublic's Universal McCann
and local agency Madison Communications. WPP started the LG initiative by buying a large stake in LG Ad, LG's in-house agency and Korea's second-largest agency, in late 2002. Last year, LG consolidated an estimated $100 million in advertising for three U.S.-based divisions-mobile phones, appliances and digital display monitors-with WPP, which formed a Team LG unit with three WPP-owned agencies to handle the U.S. business.
