Krispy Kreme to open U.K. outlet

By Published on .

[London] U.S. tourists will feel right at home in the U.K. after October when Krispy Kreme Doughnuts opens its first European outlet at Harrods department store in London. The outlet is the first of 25 planned to open across the U.K. and Ireland over the next five years. It will feature a "doughnut-making theater" and display Krispy Kreme's trademark "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign. In keeping with its North American policy, Krispy Kreme will focus on local sampling campaigns and building relationships in the community instead of using traditional advertising. Don Henshall, managing director of Krispy Kreme U.K., said, "Harrods is a well-known London institution and is the perfect location for our U.K. debut."
