Repsol invites five shops to pitch

By Published on .

[Madrid, Spain] Spanish-Argentine oil giant Repsol-YPF has invited five ad agencies, including incumbent Young & Rubicam, part of WPP Group, to pitch for its estimated $66 million international account, spent mainly in Spain and Latin America. A Y&R executive said Repsol asked the Madrid and Buenos Aires offices of Y&R; Publicis Groupe's Saatchi & Saatchi; Grey Global Group's Grey Worldwide; Omnicom Group's BBDO Worldwide; and McCann-Erickson Worldwide, part of Interpublic Group of Cos., to pitch by the end of October. Repsol did not return phone calls. Executives familiar with Repsol said the oil company has also short-listed agencies for its media buying account, now at Havas' Media Planning Group, Madrid.
