Sanofi effort touts Aventis takeover bid

[Paris] French pharmaceutical marketer Sanofi-Synthelabo has started a major corporate ad campaign to promote its $60 billion takeover bid for bigger rival Aventis. Ads by Publicis Groupe's Publicis Worldwide, appointed in late 2003 as Sanofi's global agency network, are being done by Publicis Consultant, Paris, to run in the U.S., France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K. Publicis' ZenithOptimedia, Paris, is handling media buying and planning. Aventis named Omnicom Group's TBWA, Paris to prepare a counter attack.
