, Stolle, Berlin. Incumbent Springer & Jacoby didn't re-pitch. Smart has lost money since its 1999 launch and 2004 losses could hit $400 million to $500 million. Sales for the ForFour are 25% below projections and the ForTwo's sales continue to fall. Mercedes-Benz USA is scheduled to launch Smart in the U.S. in 2006.
