WCRS attempts buyout from Havas

[London] WCRS, Arnold Worldwide Partners' only remaining U.K. ad agency, is attempting a management buyout from parent company Havas. WCRS Chairman Robin Wight, Executive Creative Director Leon Jaume and Chief Executive Stephen Woodford have approached Arnold Chairman-CEO Ed Eskandarian with a proposal to buy back WCRS. Havas declined to comment on the plan. A spokesman said Havas will announce details of its reorganization Sept. 18. "Anything that doesn't fit into Euro RSCG or Media Planning Group will be sold," he said. It is unclear where this leaves Arnold Worldwide Partners, a loose network of creative agencies in key markets. Arnold's main U.K. representative, Partners BDDH, merged last month with Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper. People close to WCRS said the agency thinks it could do better on its own, and that it doesn't get much from Havas. One of WCRS's four founding partners, Peter Scott, now owns a lucrative mineral-water business, Test Valley Water Co., and is likely to help fund the proposed buyout.
