Burger King to open first store in mainland China

[Shanghai, China] Burger King is opening its first outlet in mainland China at the end of June in Shanghai, near a Hilton hotel. Currently, the U.S. fast-food chain's only presence in China is a franchise outlet at the Hong Kong airport. The Shanghai restaurant will be company-owned. Burger King has 561 outlets elsewhere in the Asia/Pacific region, according to the company's Web site, with the biggest chain in Australia, with 299 restaurants, followed by Korea (105) and Singapore (47).
