[New York] Entries are up 18% to 22,101 for this year's Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, the show announced. Not counting two new categories-radio with 1,020 first-time entries and Titanium Integrated with 133-the increase is still 12%. The biggest growth comes from the categories that were most recently added to the festival; the three-year old Lions Direct is up by 33.5% to 1,614 entries, the Media Lions contest is up 23% to 1,076, and entries for Cyber Lions are up 21.5%. Given the sharp rise in entries, the festival hastily added 12 new judges for those three categories. The original film category that made up the entire festival when it started 52 years ago is down by 2%, to 4,995 entries. The U.S. is always the country that sends the most entries, a total of 3,046 this year, followed by Germany (2,313), Brazil (2,198) and the U.K. (1,698).
