GM award India biz to McCann Erickson

[New Delhi] General Motors Corp. has awarded the bulk of its advertising account in India to Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann Erickson Worldwide, New Delhi, including creative for the recently launched Chevrolet Optra and its upcoming Aveo model. The $7 million win follows a pitch that began last March among McCann and nine other agencies including the incumbent, local shop Enterprise Nexus, as well as Leo Burnett Worldwide, Ogilvy & Mather, Y&R, DDB Worldwide and Grey Global Group. However, Rediffusion Y&R will handle creative for GM's Chevy Tavera model and Chevrolet's corporate business. GM's media business in India was recently handed to a local agency, Madison Communications. McCann picked up creative for the launch of GM's Chevrolet in India last year, but didn't have other GM business in India.
